FAQ

Questions, answered.

Still not sure? Text us a photo of your device and we’ll tell you what we think, free.

How does mail-in data recovery work?

Start your case online, pack your device with the packing slip, and ship it insured to our Charlotte lab. We diagnose it within 24–48 hours of arrival, give you a firm price, recover your data after you approve, and ship everything back insured.

What does it cost?

Memory cards and USB drives start at $89. Laptops and MacBooks start at $99. Liquid damage starts at $149. Phones and tablets are quoted after the free diagnosis. You always get a firm price before any work.

What if you can’t recover my data?

Then you don’t pay for the recovery. That’s our no data, no fee promise.

Who pays for shipping?

You ship your device to us. We pay for insured return shipping.

How long does it take?

We diagnose within 24–48 hours of arrival. Most recoveries are done 2–5 business days after you approve. Door to door, most customers have their files back in about 7–10 days.

Do you need my passcode?

For phones, tablets and encrypted computers, yes. Without it, the data can’t be read by anyone. Don’t mail it in. We’ll ask for it securely once your device arrives.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your device is logged and stored in our lab. We only open the files needed to confirm the recovery, and we don’t keep copies after your files are delivered.

Do you recover hard drives?

Not physically damaged spinning hard drives right now (clicking, grinding, dropped). We do recover SSDs, laptops, MacBooks, phones, tablets, USB drives and memory cards.

Will my device work again?

Sometimes. Our goal is your data. When a board repair brings the device back, we’ll tell you, and you can keep using it.

Do you speak Spanish?

Sí. Our whole process is available in Spanish, from the website to updates on your case.

Can I drop it off instead?

Yes. Our lab is at 1001 E W.T. Harris Blvd, Ste U, Charlotte, NC. Open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm.

How do I get my files back?

On a new USB drive or SSD, through a secure cloud download, or back on your own device. You choose.

A quick note about hard drives. Right now we are not taking physically damaged spinning hard drives: drives that click, grind, beep or were dropped. These need a clean room, and we’d rather tell you upfront than take your money. Laptops, MacBooks, phones, USB drives, memory cards and SSDs are all fine.
