MacBook won’t turn on? Don’t replace the board.

On MacBooks from 2016 onward, the storage is soldered to the logic board and encrypted. If someone replaces that board, your files go with it. To get your data back, the original board has to work again, and that’s exactly what we repair.

Why this happens

Most dead MacBooks have one failed part on the board: a shorted power rail, a burnt charging circuit, or corrosion from a spill that spread under a chip.

Apple and most shops replace the whole board. That fixes the Mac but erases your data. We repair at the component level, so your data stays where it is.

What to do right now

  1. If it was a spill, unplug it, power it off, and turn it upside down in a tent shape.
  2. Don’t keep pressing the power button or charging it to test it.
  3. Have your login password ready. We’ll need it for FileVault.
  4. Start your mail-in and ship it insured.

How we get your data back

We diagnose the board, replace the failed components, and boot the Mac with its original storage. Then we copy off your files and send them back on a new drive or by secure download.

Questions

Apple quoted me a new logic board. Will my data survive that?

No. A new board comes with new, empty storage. Ask for your data first. That’s what we do.

Can you recover an M1, M2 or M3 MacBook?

Yes. Apple silicon MacBooks need the original board working, which is the work we do.

How much does it cost?

MacBook recovery starts at $99. Liquid damage starts at $149. Free diagnosis, firm price, no data, no fee.
